Taupo is a cosmopolitan town and as such you can expect an excellent variety of quality dining options: charming cafes, al fresco eateries where you can savour views over the lake as you dine, fresh food markets and award winning restaurants and bars full of ambience. Being lovers of fine food ourselves, we are only too happy to recommend a venue to suit the style of experience you’d like to enjoy.
The Lake Taupo region has eleven vineyards with five of these producing wine. Our climate and soil are proving to be ideal for riesling, pinotage, pinot gris and pinot noir varieties.
Those who enjoy the arts will be glad to know that Taupo is home to a vibrant creative community Visit an artist’s private studio, one of the many contemporary galleries or the well-regarded Taupo Museum where you will discover the quite remarkable '100% Pure New Zealand Ora - Garden of Wellbeing' – the Gold Medal winning garden at the 2004 Chelsea Garden Show.
